It all started 4 generations ago, on Beacon Fell, when Duillia Singleton made award winning cheese on the family farm. Today Grandma Singleton’s great grand-daughter, Tilly Carefoot, continues the family tradition, making cheese to the recipes Duillia used all those years ago.

Making cheese “Grandma’s Way” has been the founding principle over all these generations, and it has led to a continuous stream of top awards through the years, not only for the products made at Grandma Singletons, but also for the innovation and service provided.
The range of cheese made has expanded, to over 30 different types; incorporating many flavours that Grandma would not have been familiar with in her days – Wensleydale with Cranberry, Cheddar with Jalapeno and Garlic ... and even Apple Pie Cheese!
The markets we serve have expanded from the local open markets, to supplying a variety of customers in the UK and in over 30 countries covering 4 continents.

Our green lush pastures in the heart of The Bowland Forest produce fantastic milk for cheese production. All our cows’ milk comes from a distance of less than 12 miles (20km) from our dairy. Our sheeps’ milk comes from fl ocks grazing on the foothills of Parlick Fell, less than 5 miles (8km) away, and again is delivered fresh during the milking season of March until September.
We know our farmers and our farmers know exactly what we need to make great prize winning cheese
We make our own cheese and mature it on site in purpose built maturing rooms. The cheese is regularly graded and when ready we pack it ourselves, into smaller deli packs, convenience retail packs or sliced cheese packs. We use our own cheese to blend into a variety of different flavours. We provide labelling in over 10 different languages and furnish certifi cates of conformity with every shipment made. All Grandma Singletons cheese is suitable for vegetarians.

On June 26 2008, we welcomed Her Majesty The Queen to our Lancashire dairy in recognition of the huge contribution we have made to British enterprise overseas, exporting to 30 countries. Grandma Singletons are one of the very few companies in the country to have twice been awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade and to be honoured with a Royal visit.
