Grandma Singleton's Piccalilli Cheese, Scotch Egg

Serves 4



120g Grandma Singleton's Piccalilli Cheese
500g Sausage meat
50g Breadcrumbs
40g Flour, self raising
20ml Milk, whole
1 Egg
Salt & Pepper


  1. Weigh all ingredients as listed above.
  2. Heat up vegetable oil to 200 degrees C.
  3. Roll 4 x 30g of cheese into an egg shape and refrigerate.
  4. Mould the seasoned sausage meat around the cheese until fully covered.
  5. Refrigerate.
  6. Place the seasoned flour, egg, milk and breadcrumbs in seperate dishes.
  7. Carefully role the meatball in the flour, dip it in the egg and finish by coating in breadcrumbs.
  8. Repeat the final 2 stages.
  9. Carefully fry the 'scotch eggs' until golden brown, ensure the meat inside is also fully cooked (5-8 minutes depending on size).
